Flashing Wash and Dry Lights on Bosch Dishwasher

I was using a Bosch table-top SKS51E18EU_IX model dishwasher.

When I turned it on I was confronted with the “wash” and “dry” lights (LEDs) flashing alternately.

First the wash light:

Then the dry light:

Bosch SKS51E18EU_IX dry light

And then the wash light again and so on.

The cure? I had simply not selected a program using the dial (because I’d been twisting the knob to set the salt level earlier). Turn the dial until a washing program is selected!

    Thank you so much, I have a different Bosch dishwasher and for some reason the dial is allowed to move further than the settings either side. It had been knocked and wasn’t exactly on the setting I needed, moved the dial and it fixed the problem!

    Bless your cotton socks! Your tip has stopped me being angry at myself for breaking a dishwasher. Unfortunately now I feel like a fool as it is all so obvious once you know the answer!

    Thank you so much. I had the same thing and thought I’d turned the dial, to no avail. After reading your post I checked more closely and realised it was a faint indent line I’d been going by and not the solid proper selector line. All is well again. Cheers.

    Thanks for this – saved me a call out fee. So incredibly simple but not referenced anywhere. You’d think Bosch would fix this design fault or at least reference it in the manual but they six years after you left your comment they still haven’t got round to it…

    I add my thanks. My wife had set the dial to 6 o’clock confusing it with the Spin setting on our Bosch clothes washing machine. Spent a long time trying to understand why those lights were flashing then I found your post ! Brilliant

    Thank you I was just giving mine a clean after it had an error code and thought it was another error code of some kind, but it was actually because I’d cleaned the dial and it wasn’t pointing at an option
